AURORA UP GRADE SON OF FRANKENSTEIN

I thought I would start my first review with the Daddy of all Aurora kits the Frankenstein monster. This kit was released in 1961 and was considered a risky release by the Aurora management at the time. The successful line were cars, planes, character figures. 'KIT OF A MOVIE MONSTER ' Who's going to buy that ! was the reaction from the management !

But the kit was a 'HUGE' Success and orders were so high ! that another mold was produced to keep up with demand.Which started the monser craze of the 1960's with all the American plastic model companies .

The picture is of 1999 Polar Lights version of the orignal issue box art .
the diffrence from the orignal is the 'MONSTER ' logo on the left hand top corner.
Now on to my conversion build....

What I used for the building of my kit was the Posthumous Son of Frankeinstein conversion kit.

This kit as a new sheepskin jacket torso part, new head , and a new name plate to go over the gravestone. There was very little clean up on parts, just removing a little flash here and there ! small mold lines to be sanded ,but very nicely cast.

All you need from the Frankenstein kit are the arms, the legs and the base, you could throw the rest away. The frankstein kit can be still found ,it was issued about 4 times the most common version is the luminators ,which you can buy for about £12-£20 or if in the USA about $15-$40.00 from EBAY. The conversion kit is now not produced ! but again check e-bay or other on-line retailer, but price ££-$$ is on supply and demand on this item.
THE FINISHED MONSTER !

I built and seamed the kit with milliput fillerand then primed the kit with grey car primer then used acrylic paints for flesh, clothing and base. The kit was airbrushed, then oil paints was used on detailing the face and hands .then dried brushed with acrylic paint to bring out the detail .And then I had a new look for a classic Aurora kit.

IT'S ALIVE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Welcome all !!

to my ranting and raving on the the plastic and resin model kit scene.what will i be writing about ? what's new in the SCI/FI and Horror model kit scene. I will be covering mainly figures related to film and TV.what's hot and up and coming ,and nostalgic look at what has been !
